20 for USL W-League Combine unveiled

Combine to profile 128 talented players in September

 

TAMPA, FL – United Soccer Leagues announced Friday that 128 players have been provisionally chosen to participate in the upcoming inaugural USL W-League Combine that will give the players an opportunity to showcase their abilities for Women’s Professional Soccer (WPS) and other coaches and scouts. The event will take place at the Ed Radice Sports Complex in Tampa, FL September 4-7.

“The level of play in the W-League is among the best in the world and we are thrilled that the interest in the combine among our players and beyond met and actually exceeded our expectations for the event,” said W-League Director of Operations Melanie Fitzgerald. “The interest in the event has been global among players and coaches, including Football Association of Ireland national team coach Noel King, who will be in attendance along with the representatives from WPS.” more

NATOMAS, CA (08/03/08) - As the final seconds of the 2008 Women's Premier Soccer League (WPSL) National Final ticked off the clock, and the victorious Ajax America Women (14-3-1) began their team celebration, it almost felt like a family affair. In a certain sense, it most certainly was as the defense and offense seemed to meld fluidly this weekend with the Bosio sisters - Dani (defender) & Kiki (forward) - taking home Co-MVP honors in the 3-1 victory over the Arizona Rush (10-2-3) for the 2008 WPSL National champions. Pali win W-League ChampionshipExpansion Blues rally from first deficit of the season to win title

VIRGINIA BEACH, VA -- It’s not always the case that a game can live up to the hype, but the Pali Blues 2-1 victory over FC Indiana in the W-League Championship game will be remembered for ages.

The Pali Blues came out loose and relax and it showed early in the contest. Pali was in control of the game early, dominating possession and getting everyone involved. On the other hand, FC Indiana looked nervous and the big game jitters definitely contributed to early FC Indiana miscues. more

USL W-League Combine debuts this fall

TAMPA, FL – United Soccer Leagues announced Monday that with the upcoming launch of Women’s Professional Soccer (WPS), it will be conducting the inaugural USL W-League Combine in Tampa September 4-7 of 2008. The combine will feature 128 elite players showcasing their talent for WPS and other professional scouts and coaches.
 

The combine will consist of invited elite W-League players as well as those selected from an open application process. The deadline for players submitting an Open Application is August 6. It will be held at the Ed Radice Sports Complex, home to the W-League Tampa Bay Hellenic and the USL Super Y-League North American Finals. more
